Day 26: Family Holiday Suppers

Day 26: Family Holiday Suppers

Today, I woke up and weighed myself. Weight is: 83.5Kg. Yesterday I consumed 973 calories below my BMR and did 404 calories of exercise above my BMR. Total deficit is 1378 calories.

Yesterday was the fast day. I dropped almost a full Kg. You may be tempted to do fast days all the time, but that just becomes Anorexia. You don’t want that. And remember, if you want to maintain muscle mass, there is a limit to your calorie deficit.

The big weight gain after Easter Sunday provides a good opportunity to discuss how to deal with those types of situations. Basically, you have two options. Option 1 is to stick with the plan, watch everyone else eat and have some feelings about that. Option 2 is to eat, prepare beforehand, and know you will deal with consequences later.

Both options are valid and really depend on your personality and family dynamics. If you really enjoy food and the social aspect of eating with family, then call it a cheat day and prepare for it by fasting beforehand and mentally preparing for some extra hard exercising. If you have a lot of self control and can handle some prodding and prying from family and friends then Option 1 is good.

The final word on this is it is up to you. You need to know what kind of person you are and how you best deal with these situations. This requires some previous introspection (future blog topic alert).
